Where in the world is Jessica?

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Hello everyone, Lately I’ve been so lazy, I just don’t feel like posting anything. I’m taking a graphic design class at school, we started by creating vectors of ourself, I hope to learn a lot through this class. When I’m done with at least my first project I will set up a portfolio to show everyone. I’m trying to work on a new layout, I need to tweek a couple of website things: add content, alter previews, add affiliates, add links. I shall work on it this week while I’m home from school, but then again I have work and a terrible stomach virus is going around the town and has made it’s self to my house, I really hope I don’t get it, or anyone else, one person having it is enough.

Everything is Fixed!

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

I am so super exsited because every problem that I had with this layout is fixed. The rollovers work, the sidebar is in the right place and the links to post a comment works! It took me forever to fix everything but I am so happy with the outcome and I have learned a little bit more about Wordpress as a result. I plan on adding a couple articles, I have some really good ideas for topics.

Please Go visit Elena’s Blog Breakable-Emotions.

I decided to delete the Domain competion here, no one was applying and I added a domain competion at Worth the Risk. If you are in need of hosting, or know a website that is in need of hosting or a new domain tell them about Worth the Risk. Anyone who wants to help me give a domain away can plug the domain competition or Worth the Risk.

I have to go to Chemistry- Talk later.

Edit: I just noticed a problem with the comments page. I will fix it when I get home

The sound of crickets

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Lately I’ve been hearing the sound of crickets around here. Where did everyone go? I thought that the domain giveaway would attract more visitors. Don’t people want a free domain? What is up with people these days.

I’m currently watching the show “Roseanne” from the 90’s. I’m cracking up. I love how this show makes you laugh even at the most critical moments, they always find something funny to say.

Anyways, rememberer those scans I’ve been promising? Well, here they are. 43 new paper scans. The scans are from all sorts of stuff I’ve been collecting, mostly old papers my mom found me.

I’m working on my new layout, an by surprise, I actually love it! ‘Ive been wanting to do something like this for a while. The new layout features angles and flowers.

I would love for you guys to check out my best friend, elena’s blog Breakable-Emotions. She just created today, I helped her out with the layout and Wordpress stuff.

Most likely I won’t be able to contribute a lot to the website due to midterms. I also need to finish 3 photography projects: taking pictures for 2 different assignments, developing the pictures, starting and finishing a stupid project that I was assigned to create a board game. In addition to my photography projects I have write part b of my Historical Investigation. I really despise the question I picked to prove, however, my teacher likes it and he told me other IB teachers at a conference liked the idea as well. The problem is I have to start and read books and actually investigate my topic. I love history but I really wish that he did not have to do this historical investigation.

Happy New Year!

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

I want to wish everyone a happy New Year! I’m going to keep this post sort because I have to go to work in ten minutes. I want to thank everyone who wished me speedy recovery. I’m all better now, the allergic reaction is gone. I’m still working one the scans, getting previews made for everything. I’ve been working on my hosting site so I haven’t had a lot of time to fix things on this website. I plan on making a new layout because I absolutely hate this one. I want to add a couple of layouts to the resource section and install a couple of cool plugins I saw.

If the layout contest seems like to much work for one domain consider joining this contest at Worth the Risk.

Whats next? Giveaway!

Monday, December 21st, 2009

I have an excuse to why my new layout and updates took so long. two Wednesdays ago my leg started to hurt when I touched it, it sort of looked like a pimple was emerging. The next evening I noticed that the area around the ‘pimple’ was extremely swollen and red not to mention I was walking like a penguin due to the pain. I showed my mom and she decided to take me to the emergency room since my doctor would not be in the office due to the Jewish Holiday. The Emergency Room doctor told me it was most likely to be a cut that was infected and so they treated the swollen area like a MRSA infection. The doctor prescribed be 2 different antibiotics. For the past week I’ve been forced to learn to swallow pills and other gross antibiotics.
A couple of days later I developed a fever blister around my lips, I’ve had this many times before that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with. My lips became swollen and I was talking funny, it went away quickly because I applied medication on it regularly. After my fever blister cleared up I woke up with a really itchy rash all over my body. My mom called by doctor but It was early on a Saturday morning so he was not in the office. I took another trip to the ER. This time the nurse took my vitals and told me she would put me on an IV. The second she told be that I automatically started to cry hysterically, I have a huge fear of needles not to mention pain. After they “calmed me down”, stuck the needle in my vain and gave me medicine for an allergic reaction I felt a lot better. It turns out that the rash was cause by an allergic reaction from the first antibiotics. I stayed home from school today because I got all red and itchy. Tomorrow I will return to school and hopefully things will get better.

If I grossed you out, I’m sorry. The updates are all scanned and I will post them soon. The new layout is simple and was put up because I could not stand to look at the other layout one more time.

Now time for the Giveaway, I am giving away free hosting and a domain to the lucky winner of this layout contest unfortunately no one has submitted a entry yet, so please let anyone know who is in need of a domain and a wonderful hosting package! Ad space one Worth the Risk will be given away durring the iLike contest. Please join!

Quick Update

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

So here is a quick update. I have so many old, vintage type papers to scan, thanks to my mom who found them! I really can’t wait to scan these they go back as far as the eighteen hundreds. I also have some leaves and flowers to scan as well as rescan some old postcards and some new paper scans. That will be enough to keep me busy for a while.

I have completed the set up on my hosting website! Please visit Worth the Risk for both free and paid hosting, more plans are in the works.

I also would love to start a new layout, scince I’m really getting sort of tierd of this one. I will most lickly try to wait till i have all those scans I was talking about.

I’m really into card making as of right now. I always loved arts and crafts type of activities, especially scrapbooking; the last couple of months I have been experimenting in both digital and homemade cards. I have made my sister’s and my cousin’s birthday invitation as well as birthday cards, now it’s time for Christmas cards so I have gathered lots of inspiration and I will be visiting the craft store soon. When I’m done I’m plaing on showing you guys the finished product. I used to have my services up for sale on Flawless-Secret (i.e. Making layouts, invitations, cards ect.) As of right now I am working on a new website which I can sort of showcase the cards and invitations in a more organized way. Maybe I will even have a section where visitors can order cards and invitations, it depends if I feel I have enough time to dedicate to this.

I finished The Great Gatsby a while ago and already took the exam and completed the research paper that come along with the book. Now I’m reading  A Catcher in the Rye, or at least I should be reading it (right now).

Wolves and Turkeys

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

As promised I am sharing my thoughts on The Twilight Saga: New Moon movie. Let me start off by saying the special effects were much better than the first movie. In my opinion the first movie had terrible effects and a terrible a script. New Moon fallowed the book a lot more closely. Although the acting was something to be desired, Chris Wietz did a wonderful job in bringing the book to life. The make up looked a lot better this time around, in twilight I felt that all the make up was to over the top and the Cullens stood out dramatically from the rest of the people. In addition to having better make up the wardrobe improved in the second film. Bella still wears the over sized tan jacket but at least her basic clothes look better.  I also noticed that Alice’s hair looks longer and Esme’ hair looks shorter and lighter.

At of all the actors I have to say Taylor Lautner did the best job. Kristen Stewert fail to show adequate emotion. Taylor’s appearance had definitely changed from Twilight, he is much bulkier and you can tell he put in a lot of time at the gym. The werewolves spend more the half of the movie shirtless, which for me, made up for the fact that edward was missing.

There were two major disappointments for me in New Moon. I personally love Emmett and wish that he had more hen two lines, he is the funniest member of the Cullen family and I was disappointed to see that more lines were not created for him. I guess I will have to wait for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn to see more of Emmett. One of my favorite scene from the book was missing in the movie. After Bella’s life is spared by the Volutori she is suppose to be sitting on top of Edward lap in hysterics, at that point in the book Bella still dose not know that Edward didn’t mean what he said he he left. When I read the book I found this to be one of the sweetest moments because she is still really afraid of being killed and is scared to find comfort in Edward. I was really dispointed that the movie skipped it and went  to the time Bella is sent free to when she wakes up back in forks. I found all that time in between really valuable (seeing them on the plane, seeing them reunited in the airport).   I also would have loved to see Edward carry Bela in to the house and  have Charlie tell him he is not allowed. Instead in the movie Edward tells Bella he was lieing right when he sees her alive. I guess that in order for the movie to be 125 minuets (or however long it is) certain cuts had to be made.  Aside from one of my favorite parts missing from the book the movie was great. I cannot wait for Eclipse, I hope that the director has done a good job like Chris Wietz.

I would love for Chris Wietz to be the one to direct Breaking Dawn because he has done such a great job at making the movie a visual version of the book.

On a final note of my review I wish to add that I hated the way they casted the characters from twilight I really would have love to see Nina Dobrev casted as Bella and AnnaLynne McCord casted as Rosealie and someone else for Jacob, I feel Taylor Lautner would have bee better as werewolf Seth.

So Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I feel it came so early this year. My vacation plans are to go to a movie tonight with my church’s youth group, were seeing The Blind Side. I have a good feeling I will be crying since I almost cried during the promo I saw. Tomorrow I’m going to my aunts house for Thanksgiving, she lives about 25 minuets away. My sister and I are sleeping over her house. I’m excited to spend the night there with my 4 year old cousin Samantha. Last year when I slept over her house Samantha woke me up at 5:00 AM to tell me the garbage truck was out side picking up the garbage. The day after Thanksgiving (black friday) were going shoping! In case you don’t know black firday is the day after Thanksgiving when all the stores have huge sales. Along with big sales come big store lines, but I love to shop so the day at the mall with Samantha and my aunt and my sister should be fun. Saturday I plan on going to church and then Sunday I will work on my research paper for The Great Gatsby and my History D.B.Q.

Happy Thanksgiving!
